THE SOURCE MAGAZINE: "THE LAST WORD" ART OF ANDRE LEROY DAVIS

For over a decade and a half Andre LeRoy Davis created the imaginative "THE LAST WORD" illustrated page in the back of THE SOURCE magazine. Often clever and funny (keeping in mind that many a truth is spoken in jest), Davis'work often said in a single illustration what the magazine would aim to articulate with more than a thousand words in its articles on the current Rap and Hip-Hop scene of the day.

Having moved on from his work with THE SOURCE magazine, Davis, dubbed by Ernie Panicciolias as “Hip-Hop's official Cartoonist” and by himself as “The Al Hirschfeld of Hip-Hop”, is still working within, and teaching art and design. We have a forthcoming interview with the man that we hope to post within the next few weeks. Until then, behold, the classic illustration work and the last word of one Andre LeRoy Davis- "illustrative Hip-Hop Historian".
