Growing up was of my favorite reads was RollingStone magazine. if I recall correctly it used to hit the newsstand (should have just subscribed) with a new issue every other week sometimes. Outside of reading the articles about who was on a come-up in the world of music, I loved seeing the illustration work. Often found on the left-hand side of the RS table of contents page, the images of the day's rock, rap and R and B stars belonged to the artist Philip Burke. RS has utilized the illustration work of more than a few incredibly talented illustrators throughout its long and legendary history. However, to this day, Burke remains a favorite (of mine). There is just something about his renderings that are both real and surreal at the same time. The unfamiliar among you can find some his images of Rap and Rock below along with a video of the man himself discussing his work and background.
